Behind the last door of my Fashion DIY Advent calendar hide very easy instructions, which solved my New Year’s Eve outfit dilemma. The dress that I want to put on, looks somehow to be boring (apart from the deep V-neckline) and has to spiced up. The dress has a broad waistband, which gives a nice opportunity to emphasize the center. And because I still had left chains, the shoulder has been “gilded” as well

For this DIY project you need:

1.) Dress
2.) Pins (not absolute necessary)
3.) Silk or Nylon thread and needle
4.) Plier
5.) Thin chain (available at craft stores)
6.) Wide chain (from the hardware store)

As the chains from the hardware store are too heavy for the delicate fabrics, I recommend chains from the craft store. These are made mostly of lightweight aluminum or plastic, and therefore suitable to spice up lightweight clothing.
Should you not find a matching color range, you can paint the chains with decorative color spray.

THE INSTRUCTIONS:

Check the dress in the mirror and measure the required chain length. Then open the fitting part of the chain with the pliers. I have taken 2 broad chains outside and 3 fine chains between them.

Now sew the chains on the dress. Among the big chains, I have sewn the first and last links of the chain on three sides, the other thin chains need only to be sewn on the upside. On the shoulders I have sewn the chains on the sides and in the middle. DONE!

The penultimate instruction in my DIY Advent Calendar is very easy, but it takes about three hours time. For me, the effort has paid off, because my old H & M-overall, which I was wearing no longer at least 2 years, I have made made viable again. The charge compensates the effort, as to get these colorful little buttons found in a 200 pieces package starts at 50 cents.

For this DIY project you need:

1.) uppers that you want to spice up
2.) colored buttons
3.) transparent yarn and needle

THE INSTRUCTIONS:

A cup of hot chocolate and a few Christmas cookies, start a good DVD (preferably a movie you already know) and by the way sew the colored buttons just like at the picture on your top, skirt, trousers or whatever. DONE!

TIP: Since the loosely yarn scratches on the body, you should always knot the ends of the yarn on the upper side and cover the knot with the next button.

Yes, yes, there is only a small remnant from my old leather pants left, but this loop chain went out even more.
Today I’ll show you the basic instructions for this chain, whether if you leave the plain loop or spice it up somehow. On the bottom photo I provisionally fixed a couple of rhinestone studs, but I’m still not sure whether I should really let them off or not even take a few more rivets. But I will think about doing this after Christmas, when I have more time. For now, I think even the bow tie without rivets as necklace is very original.

For this DIY project you need:

1.) A piece of leather (or other solid fabric remnant)
2.) Chain
3.) Scissors
4.) Marker
5.) Ruler
6.) 3 chain-link rings and 1 chain lock
7.) Caliper

THE INSTRUCTIONS:
How long your chain should be to depends on your taste. I personally like it more if the chain is not too long with the large loop, because the bow tie (Austro ) comes out better. Incidentally, I have taken a delicate chain and double-folded, because even the smallest chains from the craft store were too rough for my taste.

On the backside of the fabric draw a 14 cm x 8 cm rectangle and cut out with about 1 cm seam allowance. From the remnants cut additional strips about 1 cm wide and 5 cm long.

Fold in the edges and stitch.

Fold the rectangle into a loop and fix it in the middle by sewing.

Put the 1 cm wide strips of fabric over the fixation suture in the middle of the loop and sew it all together.

With a sharp object (seam ripper) make a small whole to each of the two upper edges of the loop and pass through the two connecting rings.

Mount the chain into the ring, and close it with the caliper by strong pressing.

Affix the third link ring on one end of the chain and on the other end mount the chain lock and press down firmly with the caliper. DONE!!!

Perhaps you have made this DIY project and there are some fabric remnants left over? For these lying around not too long and needing unnecessary space, I have written these instructions. Before working on this T-shirt, I have already spiced up the same top in black and was so excited that now this gray top even “had to believe in it”.
By the way, with these DIY instructions there is no need for sewing and are suitable for DIY beginners.

For this DIY project you need:

1.) top or sweatshirt that you want to spice up
2.) fabric remnants from an old T-shirt
3.) scissors (1x standard and 1 x nail scissors)
4.) about one meter long chain (available at hardware stores)
5.) a long, pointed object to make small holes (eg needle for wool)
6.) caliper

THE INSTRUCTIONS:

Double-fold the T-shirt (or the fabric remnants) and cut strips of about 2.5 centimeters width with different lengths and with tapering ends.

Separate different chain lengths by bending of chain parts. The opened parts you need later!

In the shoulder area with the nail scissors sting always two very small holes in the shirt or sweatshirt …

… and pull trough the strips of fabric. About 4 centimeters below the shoulder seam I also draw through two strips of fabric.

With the needle again pierce 2 holes (see large photo) for an opened chain part.

Now hang the chain on it and close the open chain-link with the caliper. Alternatively, you can sew the chains on the top. DONE!!!

This is one of my fastest DIY projects ever. What’s needed is less than 10 minutes and you will get a pleasing end result. The flower can be individually placed, so the shoes still look always a little different. My flowers I have separated from another (ruined) pair of shoes.

For this DIY project you need:

1.) 2 equal flowers (eg from hair clips, hair bands or from a deco shop)
2.) 1 pair of shoe clips (eg from Amazon: Shoe Clip 10x11mm (gold-colored), 30 pieces)
3.) sewing kit

THE INSTRUCTIONS:

First you should familiarize yourself with the shoe clips and place the clips on the shoe before sewing. The two small hooks are always on the inside of the shoe. To place the flower on the right position on the shoe clip you may mark it with a pencil on the backside of the flower.

Then sew the clips on the flowers. DONE!!!
